System requirements

This page lists system requirements and hardware compatibility information.

Note that a Virtual Reality device is not required in order to use Modeler. While we generally recommend using Modeler across both desktop and VR to get the best of both worlds, everything that can be achieved in VR is also possible on desktop.

Supported systems

Operating SystemMinimumRecommended
  • Version : Windows 10 (64bit)
  • Memory : 8GB RAM
  • Graphics : GTX 1060 or AMD RX580 (4GB VRAM)
  • Version : Windows 10 (64bit)
  • Memory : 32GB RAM
  • Graphics : 10GB VRAM
Mac OSNot supportedNot supported
LinuxNot supportedNot supported

Builds are not currently tested on Windows 11, so it is not officially supported. Modeler should still work on Windows 11, but there is a higher chance for bugs or issues, and we cannot guarantee stability.

Supported VR headsets and controllers

Below is a list of the currently supported VR headset models and their respective requirements:

Meta Rift S HMD
  • Discrete, compatible DisplayPort output
  • Compatible miniDisplayPort video output (miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter included with Rift S)
  • 1x USB 3.0 Port
Meta Rift HMD
  • Discrete, compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • 2x USB 3.0 ports, plus 1x USB 2.0 port
Meta Quest HMD
  • Compatible Link Headset Cable
Meta Quest 2 HMD
  • Compatible Link Headset Cable

Quest headsets must be connected to a computer with Air Link or a compatible cable in order to work. Modeler does not work standalone on Quest headsets.

The Meta Rift headset may be connected to either a DisplayPort or a MiniDisplayPort output when using a compatible video adapter.

The following controllers are supported:

  • Meta Touch Controllers

While it is not officially supported, it is possible to use Revive to use Modeler on non-Meta HMD systems.

It is not possible to quickly switch between desktop and VR while using Revive. Revive also negatively impacts performance and may result in unforeseen bugs.

  1. Add Reviveinject.exe as a "New Game" in SteamVR.
  2. Open the launch options and point them to the Modeler.exe location.
  3. Ensure that "Include in VR library" is checked.

Following these steps, you should be able to use Modeler in VR.
