(Current Release) 2022/12/08 V1.1

Version 1.1 release notes

Substance 3D Modeler has made the change to the OpenXR framework. This change means that we now have basic support for headsets beyond Oculus.
The Valve Index has been tested and is officially supported. Other headsets may work, but still require testing. A list of supported headsets is available here.

Major features

Array copy, a new way to quickly create duplicates

Array copy helps you to create multiple duplicates of an object evenly spaced along a line.

💻On desktop:

  1. Hold D while moving a selection.
  2. Scroll the mouse wheel to change the number of duplicates.

🥽In VR:

  1. Move a selection by holding the tool hand trigger.
  2. While moving the selection, pull the support hand trigger to create a duplicate.
  3. Without releasing the tool hand trigger, move the support hand joystick to change the number of duplicates.

A new Boolean operation

Split has now been added as a boolean operation. The Split operation separates clay based on the surface of the boolean object.

More intuitive Export menu with additional features

The Export menu has been reorganized so that it's clearer which options impact each other. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve the export process - expect more improvements in future.

  • An additional Generate UDIMs toggle has been added.
    • Set Max UV tiles to adjust how much of the UV space the packer can use.
    • Min UV island scaling allows you to adjust the padding of UV islands.
